The parish was incorporated on July 8, 1946 and that same year the church was built, which is still in use today. In 1966, St. Simon became a mission of St. Thomas Parish in Oak Ridge, which had just become a parish. It officially became a parish in 1971. This year, the community turned 75 years old.
