The history of St. Therese Parish began in 1925 when St. Joseph Parish developed plans for a new parish on Paterson’s Eastside. A pastor was assigned in 1926 and a church was built on Thirteenth Avenue and East 33rd Street in 1927 and was dedicated to the newly-canonized St. Therese of Lisieux. A new church was built in 1953.
