NORTH HALEDON Bishop Serratelli rededicated St. Joseph’s Chapel at Mary Help of Christians Academy here, operated by the Salesian Sisters, on April 17, the Fourth Sunday of Easter, also Good Shepherd Sunday.
During the rededication, the Bishop consecrated the chapel’s new altar. The altar dedication began with the ritual blessing of holy water that was sprinkled on the new altar and the congregation. The Bishop anointed the altar with Holy Chrism, followed by the censing of the altar and the lighting of the altar. Renovations were made to update the chapel for the school’s 75th anniversary, which will be marked the weekend of May 13-15. The chapel is also used by the Salesian Sisters living on campus.
Salesian Sister Marisa DeRose, principal, said, “We are thankful for the many friends and benefactors of the Salesian Sisters and Mary Help of Christians Academy who made this possible. We are looking forward to marking our anniversary with a new chapel next month.”
