PASSAIC St. Stephen Parish here welcomed Bishop Laszlo Bocskei of the Diocese of Oradea Mare in Romania. To mark Bishop Bocskei’s visit, Bishop Serratelli concelebrated Mass with him Monday, Sept. 28. St. Stephen’s, founded in 1903, serves the Hungarian community and is the only such parish on the East Coast. The parish’s administrator Father Laszlo Vas is from Hungary and the parish is a center for cultural activities for the country. The visit by Bishop Bocskei was greatly welcomed because he was born into a Hungarian family. Bishop Bocskei was consecrated a bishop in 2009 and while his diocese is in Romania, its faithful are predominately Hungarian.
