MADISON To begin the new school year, priests, principals and high school presidents came together for Mass at St. Paul Inside the Walls here Aug. 25. The diocesan Schools Office coordinated the liturgy with Bishop Serratelli as the main celebrant. Concelebrants included Father Stanley Barron, vicar for education; Msgr. Kieran McHugh, president of Pope John XXIII High School, Sparta; Father Paul Manning, executive director of St. Paul Inside the Walls and vicar for evangelization; Father Michael Lee, chaplain at DePaul Catholic High School, Wayne, and several pastors and parochial vicars, whose parishes have an elementary school.
At the end of the Mass, the Bishop commissioned the school leaders and presented them with a prayer and pin commemorating the upcoming World Meeting for Families later this month in Philadelphia, which Pope Francis will attend. After Mass, the school leaders gathered for a meeting to discuss the mission for the new school year.
