DOVER Bishop Serratelli consecrated and blessed the new altar in Our Lady Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church here July 31 where he celebrated Mass for the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time. The 10:30 a.m. Spanish language Mass, concelebrated by Father Brendan Murray, pastor; Father Rafael Ciro and Father Nelson Betacur, parochial vicars, was filled to standing room only with an overflow of the faithful in the basement area of the church watching the Mass from television screens. Bishop Serratelli blessed those attendees downstairs with Holy Water and Holy Communion was brought to the people.
The new altar, made of marble, replaced the previous altar, which was made of wood and was movable. The new altar is permanent, and was part of some small renovations made in the church, which included new lighting and carpeting. All were made possible because of the financial contributions of the parishioners. Many of them also helped oversee the work. The project started four months ago and extra collections were held during these months.
