Pastoral visit to St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish

CHESTER  Bishop Serratelli made a pastoral visit to St. Lawrence Church here July 3 where he celebrated Mass for the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

The parish’s history began in 1941 when Sunday Masses were held in private homes in Chester. A mission was established and in 1950 a Quonset hut church was erected on Main Street, Bishop McNulty raised the mission to parish status in 1957, a church was built in 1963.
