Presently, The Diocese of Metuchen is seeking a Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry that will oversee, direct and deliver a comprehensive program of services that formulate and communicate the vision of youth and young adult ministry within the Diocese. The leadership of the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry should flow from their own evident and engaged faith as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

• Act as a principal advocate for ministry to and with youth & young adults in parishes, on campuses, and within all diocesan agencies/institutions.
• Develop and implement creative comprehensive programs and services that provide formation for youth and young adults in the spirit of the new evangelization.
• Develop creative and innovative workshops, seminars, retreats and meetings that support faith development and discipleship.
• Establish programs and initiatives aimed at the ongoing formation of youth leaders, adult volunteers and professional youth ministers; Develop comprehensive youth ministry to address the needs of young people of all ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Collaborate with pastors, parish leaders, Catholic Campus Chaplains, the Office of Catholic Schools, Catechesis, Family Life/Respect Life, Ethnic Ministries and other diocesan organizations; Act as a resource for youth ministry to parishes across the Diocese, including those looking to revitalize their current program(s); Educate clergy, lay leaders, parents and youth in the Diocese about youth ministry.
• Continuously interact with Parish Coordinators of Youth Ministry throughout the Diocese supporting and providing reference materials for their parish programs.
• Communicate the mission of the office effectively through various publications and types of meetings.
• Utilize social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) as a communication tool for events and outreach.
• Perform other duties as required.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be highly proficient in the use of technology.

• Must be a Roman Catholic who upholds the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church,
• Bachelors Degree in Pastoral Ministry/Religious Studies, Applied Theology, or Ministry or related course of study
• Minimum 5 years of experience in youth/young adult ministry

The Respect Life Coordinator will focus on life and social justice issues using Catholic Social Teaching as a guide. The Coordinator will promote respect for the dignity of each individual person, from conception through natural death, by focusing on ethical issues including:

• Abortion
• Racial justice and equity
• Incarceration reform
• Treatment of undocumented migrants
• Elimination of human trafficking and exploitation of minors
• Euthanasia/ responsible pain management until natural death
• IVF
• Adoption

• Work with parish Respect Life coordinators to help support and strengthen programs
• Coordinate annual March for Life in Washington D.C.
• Research and draft responses to correspondence the Bishop’s office
• Provide diocesan leadership with timely research and information on public policy issues
• Network with other diocesan Respect Life leaders and the New Jersey Conference of Catholic Bishops
• Coordinate and oversee Project Rachel offerings with Archdiocese of Newark
• Collect and disseminate local charitable and social services to parishes
• Manage Respect Life Data base
• Oversee Walking with Moms in Need initiative
• Coordinate yearly Respect Life Convocation
• Update content and resources on website and Office of Evangelization calendar
• Create events and training opportunities that equip parishes to build a culture of life in their community
• Create and oversee advisory board
• Attend staff meetings of Office of Evangelization at St. Paul Inside the Walls
• Cooperate and support initiatives with other Office of Evangelization departments

We seek a Music Director who is a professional musician rooted in an understanding and appreciation of the Roman Catholic Faith and its Liturgy and who will support the singing culture of our community. The candidate will possess a passion for our faith and the mission of the church, as well as a great ability to work in a team environment.

• Accompany on piano and organ at three of our weekend Masses (5:00 p.m. Saturday Vigil, Sunday 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.), Holy days, and special services.
• Oversee musical liturgy planning, ensuring uplifting and engaging music, including preparation of worship aids.
• Work with instrumental ensembles for regular and special Masses. Coordinate/hire/schedule outside musicians.
• Must have a strong understanding of the human singing voice and be able to coach and mentor cantors. Responsible for cantor schedules.
• Must have experience conducting and be familiar with liturgical choral repertoire. Direct the Adult Choir (11:30 am Sunday Mass) and accompany the Children’s Choir (Sunday’s 9:30 Family Mass)
• Provide occasional musical support to ministries of the parish.
• Play for weddings and funerals.

St Catherine of Siena seeks a dynamic, energetic faith filled disciple to server as Confirmation and Youth Minister Coordinator to help facilitate the evangelization formation and discipleship of Middle and High School Students in our parish.

The youth minister/confirmation coordinator provides vision and coordination for the parish’s efforts in ministry to young people from 7th through 12th grades. This includes weekly catechesis for grades 7-10, Confirmation preparation, peer leader training, and monthly youth nights.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Develops, implements, and directs a faith formation program for middle school and high school students that supports a life-long deepening of the Catholic faith by forming the hearts and minds of young people; both gaining knowledge in the teachings of the Church and creating opportunities for them to encounter Christ in a personal way. • Develop and implements curriculum goals for Religious Education programs including the 7th and 8th grade curriculum, as well as a 2-year Confirmation preparation program for 9th and 10th grade students.
• Selects appropriate catechetical material based on diocesan guidelines.
• Integrates the liturgical life of the parish into the religious education curriculum.
• Identifies service opportunities for youth.
• Develops “Youth Nights” for 9th-12th graders that provide opportunities for students to come together for prayer, social events, and service to the community.
• Recruit and train recently confirmed high school students to be Peer Leaders.
• Organizes and implements Peer Leader Retreat
• Organizes and implements annual Confirmation Retreat; conducts weekly meetings with Peer Leaders to plan and prepare for the retreat.
• Provide training to catechists in the 7th-10th grade religious education program.
• Recruits and trains adult volunteers to help with youth program. • Coordinates annual service trip with CatholicHEART Workcamp; recruits participants and chaperones; conducts 3-4 pre-trip meetings.
• Collaborate with the DRE on opportunities for family catechesis; i.e: coordinating the Living Rosary, developing and teaching 2-3 sessions in the Family Catechesis program. • Collaborate with Music Minister for youth Holy Hour in Adoration, liturgy for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, Catholic Studies or related field is preferred, but previous experience will be considered.
• Solid understanding of Catholic beliefs, formal Catholic certification a plus, 3 plus years experience leading sacramental preparation and religious formation programs.
• Leadership qualities as well as team spirit.
• Good organizational skills, communication skills and people skills.
• Relates well to teenagers, familiarity with community.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to the changing environment concerning teen and society.
• Attend Ministry Conference/Seminars and workshops on adolescent issues.

A progressive Catholic community rooted in the Franciscan tradition is seeking a full time Coordinator of Religious Education Grades 6-10/Confirmation.

Applicant will be responsible for coordinating and directing the Parish Religious Education Program for the children Grades 6-10 which includes Sacramental preparation.
