St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church, a large, vibrant church in the heart of downtown Madison, NJ, seeks qualified candidates for the position of part time church organist.
St. Vincent Martyr is home to several diverse musical ensembles: the Parish Choir, the Contemporary Ensemble, our Spanish Music Ministry, Choristers (our Children’s Choir), the Chamber Choir, and the Handbell Choir. Each group plays an important role in aiding the worship of parishioners at various Masses each weekend.
The role of the organist at St. Vincent Martyr is to understand the role music plays at each Mass and to provide high-level accompaniment that is consistent with the style of each musical ensemble while maintaining an awareness of the sanctity and holiness that is the Holy Mass. As a pastoral musician, the organist’s ultimate goal is to bring all into a deeper relationship with Jesus through both sung prayer and sacred instrumental music.

This is a part-time position (estimated hours: 20-25/week).
Candidate must:
Serve as Accompanist/Organist for Weekend Masses
Serve as Accompanist for Rehearsals
Serve as Accompanist for all Holy Days, holidays, and Sacramental celebrations
Provide appropriate prelude and postlude music
Provide Accompaniment for all Weddings and Funerals (about 50 of each annually)
Assist Music Director in maintenance of parish instruments
Assist Music Director in organization of musical files and accompaniment resources
Attend continuing education workshops: AGO and NPM conventions or similar. Funds are set aside annually
Attend liturgy committee meetings - typically third Monday/month, 7:30-9pm
Attend staff meetings as a substitute for the Director when needed
Organ: (Peragallo, 1980) with 31 ranks, 1802 speaking pipes, trumpet en chamade, 20 chimes, and cymbalstern. The organ was renovated and upgraded in 2017, including addition of a digital system.

Experince in youth ministry is not essential, but very much desiered.
A backround in Theology or Catholic Studies is strongly perferred, but at the vey least a candidate must have a through and comprehensive knowledge of the Church's teachings an the entirty of the catholic faith. Must be fully-initiated and paracating Catholic. The youth minister, will work with the support of the PArochial vicar in the planning and execution of these activites.
The responsibilites of the youth minister would entail:
Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, minor alterations including carpentry, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, minor electrical, and limited janitorial work of the buildings, facilities, and fixtures of various diocesan owned and leased facilities.
This position requires the incumbent to manage daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities with great efficiency and attention to detail. Will be given priorities by manager. Candidate must be available to support events on nights and weekends periodically. Employee must know their personal abilities and limitations when assessing projects and request professional / additional assistance to ensure their personal safety and minimize loss of assets.
