Bishop Serratelli to ordain 10 men to priesthood May 28CLIFTON Bishop Serratelli will ordain 10 men, who come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds and life experiences, to the priesthood for the Paterson Diocese during the Rite of Ordination of Priests at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 28 in St. Philip the Apostle Church here.
The Bishop will ordain to the priesthood the following transitional deacons: Rev. Mr. Dominik A. Bakowski, Rev. Mr. Marcin Bradtke, Rev. Mr. Przemyslaw K. Gawlik, Rev. Mr. Krzysztof P. Liwarski, Rev. Mr. Michal J. Szwarc, Rev. Mr. Slawomir Tomaszewski, Rev. Mr. Artur P. Zaba and Rev. Mr. Dawid Zajecki, all of Poland, and Rev. Mr. Jeider S. Barraza and Rev. Mr. Duberney Villamizar of Columbia.
Well-wishers — family, friends, priests and religious of the diocese, members of the parishes where the transitional deacons have served and the faithful of the diocese — are invited to attend the ordination as a sign of encouragement to the newly ordained priests.
Following are brief biographies on the 10 men to be ordained as priests of the Paterson Diocese:Rev. Mr. Dominik BakowskiBakowski was born on Jan. 1, 1982, in Wiecbork, Poland, to Andrzej (deceased) and Kazimiera Bakowska of Kamien Krajenski. His parish is St. Joseph, Lincoln Park. He studied at Tadeusz Kotarbinski High School in Poland, the Major Seminary in Pelplin, Poland, and the Major Seminary of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit in Bydgoszcz, Poland. He has served at St. Joseph Parish in Lincoln Park.Rev. Mr. Jeider BarrazaBarraza was born on May 17, 1987 in Barranquilla, Colombia, to Pedro M. Barraza Sonett and Amparo E. Jimenez e Barraza of Barranquilla, Colombia. His parish is St. Margaret of Scotland, Morristown. He earned an associate’s degree in accounting and finances; studied English as a Second Language (ESL) at Notre Dame of Maryland University, 2009-2010; completed the pre-theology at Mount St. Mary’s University and Seminary, Emmitsburg, Md.; earned a master’s degree in theology from St. Mary’s Seminary and University; and completed a master’s degree in divinity from Immaculate Conception Seminary at Seton Hall University, South Orange. He arrived in Paterson Diocese during summer of 2014; served as seminarian at the Catholic community of St. Brendan and St. George, Clifton; and served as transitional deacon at St. Margaret’s.Rev. Mr. Marcin BradtkeBradtke was born on March 17, 1985 in Puck, Poland, to Jerzy Paweł and Elzbieta Bradtke. His parish is St. Michael the Archangel in Starzyno, Poland. He attended high school in Kłanino, Poland (2000-2004); earned bachelor’s degree in European studies from the University of Szczecin in Poland (2004-07); studied at novitiate and seminary in the Pauline’s Order in Kraków in Poland (2007-2013); attended seminary of SS. Cyril and Methodius in Krakow in Poland (2013-14); and earned a master’s degree in theology there (2014). He has served at St. Vincent Martyr Parish in Madison.Rev. Mr. Przemyslaw Karol GawlikGawlik was born on Nov. 4, 1985 in Limanowa, Poland, to Roman and Krystyna Gawlik. His parish is Assumption, Morristown. He attended high school in Mecina in Poland; studied at the novitiate and seminary of the Franciscan Order at Kalwaria Zebrzydowska in Poland; and earned his master’s degree in theology in Krakow in Poland. He has served at Assumption Parish in Morristown.Rev. Mr. Krzysztof Piotr LiwarskiLiwarski was born on July, 4, 1986 in Knurów, Poland, to Marek Liwarski (deceased) and Anna Liwarska. His parish is St. Jacek Parish in Gliwice, Poland. He attended High School nr 1 in Gliwice and Warmińsko-Mazurski University in Olsztyn, Poland. He served at Sacred Heart Parish in Dover.Rev. Mr. Michal Jan SzwarcSzwarc was born Oct. 10, 1987 in Gdynia, Poland, to Jerzy Jan Szwarc (deceased) and Jadwiga Szwarc. His parish is St. Anthony of Padua, Gdansk, Poland. He attended high school in Gdańsk (2003-06); studied at diocesan seminary in Gdansk (2006); earned bachelor’s degree in family studies at University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn in Poland (2011); earned a master’s degree in theology from University of Warmia and Mazury (2013); and earned a master’s degree in family science from University of Warmia and Mazury (2013). He has served at St. Jude Parish in Budd Lake.Rev. Mr. Slawomir TomaszewskiTomaszewski was born on Sept., 16, 1983 in Tuchola, Poland, to Józef Tomaszewski and Elzbieta Tomaszewska. His parish is Corpus Christi, Tuchola. He attended high school in Tuchola and studied at University of Szczecin in Poland. He has served at St. Cecilia and Sacred Heart parishes in Rockaway.Rev. Mr. Duberney VillamizarVillamizar was born on July 16, 1990 in La Esmeralda, Arauquita-Arauca in Colombia to Abelardo Ariza Cruz (deceased) and Marleny Villamizar Gonzalez of Arauquita-Arauca. His parish is Our Lady of Carmen, La Esmeralda, Arauquita-Arauca. He attended middle and high school in La Esmeralda; studied philosophy at Vincentians Fathers Seminary (Sepavi) in Medellin in Colombia (2008-2010); received formation of Vincentian Spirituality at Apostólica Seminary in Santa Rosa de Cabal in Colombia (2011); started theological studies at Villa Paul Seminary in Funza in Colombia (2012); studied English as a Second Language at Rutgers University, Newark (2013); earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Conn., and earned a master of divinity degree from Holy Apostles College and Seminary (2016). As a transitional deacon, he served at St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish, Chester.Rev. Mr. Artur ZabaZaba was born on Aug. 16, 1986 in Nisko, Poland to Czeslaw and Maria Zaba of Nisko. His parish is Holy Family, Florham Park. He attended Theological Seminary, Sandomierz in Poland (2007-10); studied at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Seminary, Krakow, and attended Ss. Cyril and Methodius Seminary, Orchard Lake, Mich. He has served at Holy Family Parish in Florham Park.Rev. Mr. Dawid ZajeckiZajecki was born on Sept. 14, 1991 in Kielce, Poland, to Yacek and Beata Zajecki. His parish is Our Lady of the Lake, Sparta. He attended WSD in Kielce in Poland; studied at Instytut Teologiczny Ksizy Misjonarzy, Kraków in Poland; and attended Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Conn.
