December 2015 Exterior Renovations

Gianfranco Archimede, Director of the
Paterson Historic Preservation Commission inspects the exterior renovations.

Cross base is sanded and painted to prevent future rusting. New anchor bolts are installed.

Cast stones are lifted for installation.

Existing damaged blind dormers on the spires are replaced with new cast stone.

Various decorative new cast stones are installed to replace damaged stones.





Loose stone is removed and the existing brownstone is tooled by hand to
match the existing pattern.





The extisting four pinnacles facing Main Street received new lead coated copper finials to
replace the stone finials removed many years ago.






Lower pinnicle on the corner of Main and Grand Street also received new cast stone
pinnacle due to the existing crack.



Upper two finials seen from eyelevel and the bell tower cross elevation.







Bell tower upper louver brick arch repairs required due to many
years of water infiltration damage.





Removal of rose window to enable removal of damaged stone sill.





Bishop Serratelli and Msgr. Condon inspect the progress of the
stained glass window restoration.



Replacement of the new protective glazing t-bar supports continue.



Painting of the ventilators to prevent rust is completed.



New condensation chanel mock up is installed and approved at the window sill.
This chanel is being installed to extend the life of the stained glass windows.



Drawings of the orginal St. John's church exist on the stained
glass window above the main entrance doors.



New protective glazing sealant mock up and pull test are approved.
