CHESTER Bishop Serratelli made his final pastoral visit to St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish here June 28 where he celebrated Mass for the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
The parish’s history began in 1950 when a mission was established in Chester and a Quonset hut church was erected on Main Street. The mission was raised to parish status in 1957 and the present church was built in 1963. St. Lawrence is responsible for the development of parishes in Schooleys Mountain and Flanders.
