MADISON The first meeting of the year for all principals, high school presidents, and school pastors and vicars was held at St. Paul Inside the Walls, the Diocesan Evangelization Center at Bayley-Ellard here Aug. 23.
The program began with an opening address given by Msgr. James Mahoney, vicar general and moderator of the curia, and pastor of Corpus Christi Parish in Chatham Township. It was followed by a Mass for the opening of the school year celebrated by Father Stanley Barron, diocesan vicar for education and pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Flanders, with several pastors whose parishes sponsor schools as concelebrants of the Mass. School leaders also heard a presentation from Mary D. Baier, superintendent of schools.
Earlier in the month, the orientation program for new principals was held Aug. 15 at the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Clifton and the orientation program for all new teachers in schools in the Diocese was held on Aug. 17 at Mary Help of Christians Academy in North Haledon.
