Mass on New Year’s DayWAYNE Bishop Serratelli made a pastoral visit to Our Lady of Consolation (OLC) Church here Jan. 1, New Year’s Day and celebrated Mass for the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, a Holy Day of Obligation.
OLC’s history began in 1963 when Bishop Navagh established the parish in the northwest section of Wayne and named Msgr. Carl Wolsin as the founding pastor.. A house was secured at 76 Surrey Drive for a rectory and weekday chapel while Sunday Masses were celebrated at Schuyler-Colfax Junior High School. A church and school were constructed on Hamburg Turnpike in 1966.
