As weather continues to cooperate the exterior renovations move forward
for the end of the year completion.
Chancel rotted roof structure repairs are completed.
Wood plate is cut, marked for attachments, and lifted to the roof for installation.
Perlins and girders are replaced with new members.
Bell tower belfry roof is cleaned and assed for damages. Debris is removed.
Bell tower copper cross is stripped before gilding is applied.
170 existing patches that were improperly installed in past renovations
are removed from the bell tower Grand Street facade to provide safety
over the entrance doors.
Exterior stone scaling, tooling, and pointing continue.
BCA makes punch list inspections of the work that has been completed.
Precast stones arrive on site; are cut and installed.
Additional scaffolding is installed to facilitate removal of the protective
glazing on the stained glass windows.
Sealant on the protective glazing is positive for asbestos and abatement begins.
As the protective glazing is removed, additional repairs to the stained
glass are identified.
Exposed stained glass is protected in preparation for a tropical storm
that did not hit the area and veered out to the Atlantic Ocean
Installation of the t-bars that hold the protective glazing begins.
Templates are made so that the new protective glazing can be produced to fit adequately.
