Bishop Serratelli blesses newly renovated
St. Mary Help of Christians Church in Paterson

PATERSON  For several months, parishioners at St. Mary Help of Christians Church here had been coming together for the celebration of Mass at the church’s nearby parish center as the church underwent major painting to its interior. Through the generous donations of parishioners, the 165-year-old church was painted following roof repairs. A leaky roof on the tower side of the building had caused water damage inside.

To mark the reopening of the newly painted church, Bishop Serratelli celebrated a Saturday evening vigil Mass Sept. 26 to mark the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time and conducted a blessing of the interior of the church.
