Pastoral visit to Wayne parish

WAYNE PARISH WELCOMES BISHOP  Bishop Serratelli made a pastoral visit to Our Lady of the Valley (OLV) Parish in Wayne Nov. 5. During his visit, he celebrated the vigil Mass for the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.

OLV’s history dates back to 1960 when Bishop McNulty established a mission in the Preakness area of Wayne. The first Masses were celebrated July 17, 1960 in Wayne Valley High School. The following year, OLV was advanced to parish status. A church and school were built on Valley Road in 1961-62 under the direction of Msgr. James J. Rugel, the founding pastor.
